The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. click to read can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
